I have so enjoyed the last 50 years! I moved to Santa Barbara, CA after reconnecting with my boyfriend I had in my Junior year of high school after a 5 year break! We met while working in high school at Pizza PaPa at Texa Tonka Schopping Center along with Tanya Auwerter! I had a choice of moving to Santa Barbara; or Jay would move to Mpls! It was -25 degrees the day I moved to California & have not looked back!We married & have 2 wonderful sons & a daughter-in-law! I worked in commercial insurance for 41 years & now happily retired! Two days after I retired, we had one way tickets to Europe for a fabulous 4 1/2 month trip! Great transition to retirement! We have been having so much fun traveling the world & the USA! Looking forward to our 50th class reunion! |

Like others, I truly can't get my mind around the fact that it has been 50 years since high school. Especially when I am still trying to figure out what I want to BE when I grow up. Or when I am plagued by the SAME doubts and insecurities that shadowed me (us?) those years. Obviously, those were not the best years of my life. That said, to this day, some of my nearest and dearest friendships began at St. L. Park High and I am grateful for them. After graduating, I was 1.5 years at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I thought I wanted a small college after a big HS but, I was wrong. I transferred and then graduated from the U of M, Minneapolis campus. I went into wholesale sales of women's apparel - a field that I don't think exists anymore in the area. I married and left Mpls in the early 80's, spent a handful of years in the Washington D.C. area and have been in Sarasota, FL since 1989. I was married 20 years and the highlight was having 2 sons. Sadly, my eldest, Seth, died 14 years ago, at age 23 from Type 1 diabetes. That loss remains unfathomable. My younger son, Scott, was recently married (I like her, whew!!) and so far, I have a grand puppy. They live in Chicago. I have often considered myself a Professional Volunteer. Over the years I invested much time and energy for various organizations and causes. I also have a very part-time business doing organization and personal assistance - I keep threatening to write a book. It's pretty fascinating being on the inside of some people's lives and homes. I have never had many hobbies......Luckily, I have been able to travel and see some of the world. If that can be considered a hobby? Too bad the Home Ec classes didn't inspire me to cook, sew or knit.......those would be easier and cheaper hobbies! Thankfully, I have been healthy and I cherish the friends and family I have near and far. As the years progress, I see how that is what truly matters in life. See you at the reunion! |

Pretty sure I'm still 18. Can't trust those mirrors!
In our 8th house here in the Minneapolis area, last 3 on the same block.
Don't remember me? I'm the tan kid who moved here from Santa Barbara in 7th grade. (Westwood)
First time at a reunion, persuaded by some good old friends.
Looking forward to going!

Where does the time go? My grandfather, of blessed memory, used to say, "It's all a dream." I'm beginning to understand what he meant...Looking forward to reconnecting with "old" friends. |

I still live in St. Louis Park with my husband David. Together we have 3 sons, all living on the East Coast. David's sons and their wives live in Connecticut and New York City. My son and his wife live in Silver Spring, Maryland. We have two grandchildren who we don't see often enough. I've worked in the education field since graduating from the University of Minnesota. I taught high school English for 17 years in the Edina and Mounds View School Districts. Ready for a change of pace, I left teaching and became a publishing sales representative for Taylor Publishing Company (now called Balfour) in 1992. As a publishing representative, I work with yearbook advisers and their staffs, teaching them desktop publishing as they produce their yearbooks. Yearbooks have changed a lot since 1972. I am most excited to work with the Echowan staff year after year! |

It's hard to believe it's been 50 years since graduation from SLP High School! As I reached my mid-50's over a decade ago, I set three goals for myself for when I turned 60: to sell our home and move to a condo, to sell my business and retire, and to travel throughout Europe. I accomplished all three! My husband David and I moved to a condo in Edina in 2013 and that same year I successfully sold my business and retired. We've gone on three European river cruises, which were fantastic. Our kids live in DC, NYC and Dallas, so we have spent a lot of time visitng them and our 6 grandkids. In my spare time I love to play canasta and Mah Jongg. In the fall of 2013 I began working at the Minneapolis JCC as an Event Planner and did that until the pandemic hit and shut down large fundraising events. Since 2020 I've kept busy having lunch and dinner with friends, traveling, reading, and playing canasta and mahj. I look forward to connecting with old friends at the reunion! |
